These organic Cacao Nibs are a great way to introduce rich chocolate flavour into any beer.

Cacao Nibs (also referred to as Cocoa Nibs) are basically unprocessed chocolate simply broken up pieces of the cacao bean. While not technically chocolate themselves, they have a wonderful cocoa smell to them, and will provide a very subdued cocoa-like flavor to any beer.

You can use these Cacao Nibs like you would a dry hop, by adding them to your secondary fermenter or keg (100g to 200g per 20L batch is a great place to start)

If you want to get the most out of your Cacao Nibs a good idea is to let cover them in a small amount of vodka for a day or two before you add them. The vodka helps to bring out the flavour of the Cacao and also acts as a sanitiser. Cacao Nibs give all the flavours of chocolate but without the powdery residue of Cocoa.

Cacao Nibs can also be used in the boil or mash – wherever you would like to experiment with them. Adding the nibs pre-boil will impart some bitterness, so use a lot less than you would when adding them to a fermenter or keg.
