New Product - Condenser Tower Last month we featured the new Condenser Tower Extension (Code 60551) from Still Spirits. When we went to print, it had just landed on our doorstep and we didn’t have a chance to test it. We have since tested it and “It Works”. ![]() It is the perfect upgrade for all Still Spirits reflux and super reflux stills. It simply screws on to the lid and extends the column to improve the performance by 10% or more. This means more and better quality alcohol. The cost of the tower extension should be covered after 3 batches and the performance is now similar to the Essencia Super Reflux Condenser. Also thanks to Andy and Hamish on this one. Wine Kits Late last year we reported on a new range of Cellar Craft “Prestige” wine kits. These kits are top of the range and include all the popular varieties. Each kit contains all the necessary ingredients to make 30x 750ml bottles in 35 days at a cost of around $4.00 per bottle. We have since made every wine in the range and have aged them for more than 6 months. We are absolutely thrilled at the results and can strongly recommend this product to anyone who wants to make wine at home. New Product - Broad Range Temperature Controller This broad range temperature controller (Code 58800) is ideal for brewing in extreme conditions. Use in conjunction with a fridge and heat pad to create a perfect temperature controlled environment for any home brew fermentation. ![]() Includes: Instructions, Temperature Probe, and Control Panel Mounting Bracket. Features: Broad temperature operating range (-44C-99C) and high accuracy, high 10amp cooling and 7amp heating, accuracy to 1C and Fridge "ON" indicator light. WARNING: Installation should only be undertaken by a qualified electrician. New Product – 8mm In-line Barbed Valve This Essencia 8mm In-line Valve (Code 57800) is the perfect solution for controlling the water inflow to any condenser. Simply cut the existing hose and connect to the barbs. ![]() Product Change – Spirit Mate Ezi-Mix Spirit Finisher has been replaced with Spirits Unlimited “Spirit Mate” (Code 67700) Instant Smoothing Agent. Spirit Mate has been upsized from 100g to 150g with no price increase. ![]() It is a perfect spirit finisher that will improve the smoothness and clarity of the distillate. Use 5gm per 1 litre of alcohol to soften, smooth and age the spirit. Air Still Tips Here are a couple of good ideas if you have an Air Still: - If Still Spirits Triple Distilled yeast is used to make the wash there is no head to discard as it makes very pure alcohol. However, if you use another type of yeast to make the wash then you will need to discard the first 50mls. - When operating the Air Still, collect only the first 700ml as the quality quickly goes downhill from there. However, it is possible to collect a further 100ml but keep this in a separate container and after several batches when you have a litre of this stuff, run it through the filter and use to make liqueurs as it is only about 20%. - Don’t throw the head away. It makes a fantastic window cleaner. New Beer Recipes Here are a couple of interesting recipes we added last month: Barefoot Radler Recipe 1 x Morgans Cervesa (Code 18206) 200g x Maltodexrin (Corn Sugar) 200g x Light Dried Malt Extract 600g x Dextrose NB: Ferment 12-15C. When ready to drink, add lime or lemon juice according to taste. Millers Chilli Beer Recipe: 1 x Morgans Blue Mountain Lager (Code 17400) 1 x Kg Dextrose 5 x Hot Chilli's - Cut them into rings and add to your wort before adding the yeast. Don't use the stalks. NB: Ferment 22-30C. After fermentation is complete rack to another sterilised fermenter and leave for another 4-5 days before bottling. When ready to drink, add lime or salt according to taste.
